Results

LC-MS has determined the actual enrichment of labeled β-carotene at mass m/z = 536–558 in the yellow maize.
In this study, the seeds were compiled from 2 separate harvests, in June and October 2006.
For the mass of unlabeled β-carotene, it was detected at m/z 537 (M+ H⁺) - very small amount [<1%].
For the mass of labeled [²H]β-carotene, it was detected at m/z 546 (M+H⁺+9) - abundant

Some intact [²H]β-carotene from the yellow maize dose was absorbed into the circulation (serum).
